Palmer is a Raider!
Oakland traded for Carson Palmer today! Were currently 4-2 and looking good but unfortunately suffered a loss at QB last week when Jason Campbell was knocked out for the season with a broken collarbone. The Raiders were able to convince Mike Brown to trade his disgruntled holdout QB for 2012’s 1st round draft pick, and a conditional 2nd round draft pick for 2013 that could become a 1st if we win a playoff game this year. This move shows we are serious about winning now! We already swept the division last year, and I really like our chances to win it this year…especially now!
I personally am pumped about this move. We have been playing really good this season, running like crazy, and our receivers are starting to turn into legit guys. Campbell had been doing a great job of managing the game for us, but unfortunately that’s about all he was doing. Now we have a guy who has proven he can win and put up big numbers. Along with McFadden, Ford, Moore and Boss we have a very scary offense. Not to mention Palmer will make a much better mentor for Pryor than Campbell because he already has success in the league and is a good pocket passer.
Some people are making jokes about us giving up 2 1st rounders, but lets put it this way. Our recent 1st round picks have included Robert Gallery and JaMarcus Russell. I would much rather have a legit QB for the first time since Rich Gannon than some of the scrubs we have taken over the years. I think we have the core guys to build a solid team around now its just developing these guys and building a good roster of complimentary players.
